Ethan Shalaway, who was fifth at the recent Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships, threw 251-6 (76.67m) to win the elite men's competition Saturday at the Ninth American JavFest in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Shalaway, who was second in the 2022 event, defeated another Pennsylvania native, Marc Minichello, the third-place finisher at the U.S. Championships two weeks ago in Eugene, Ore. Minichello threw 242-4 (73.88m).

Minichello, who was fourth at the NCAA Division 1 Championships for Georgia, was in need of a World Championships qualifying mark (279-6/85.20m), but came up well short.
